Watching her command a 30-pound instrument strapped to her small frame, balancing herself on one foot, working the volume pedal with the other, and still singing perfectly on pitch was nothing short of astonishing. And she did it night after night, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
This picture was taken during one of our two concerts at the amphitheater, which was once an operational part of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation near Livingston, TX. Gary Dewayne was on the drums. How I'd love to relive those days when we were all young, giving our gifts back to the One who gave them. But, ready or not, time marches on.
Till we meet again, dear friend, keep doing the right thing, even when it's hard and you don’t want to.
