Mother's Day - 2021

I learned a long time ago that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful, and it was a beautiful Mother’s Day. It started with a scrumptious lunch at Anna Marie’s, and ended at my place over bowls of gumbo and lemon pie.

Oodles of pictures were taken, but this impromptu selfie of me and my mother—being silly on the couch—was my favorite shot. Each day with her is a gift from God, and I cherish moments like these. I know Daddy would be proud of her and how she is acclimating herself to a whole new way of living.

It can’t be easy, downsizing from a house to a room, but Mother is a realist, and she doesn't waste much time dwelling on "what ifs." She just does what needs to be done, no matter how hard it might be.

Isn't that a wonderful way to live? Indeed, it is, and I want to be just like her when I grow up.
