God's Timing

No matter how perfect your life may appear on Facebook, we all carry burdens, and yesterday my burden seemed too heavy to carry for even one more day. At bedtime, I had a serious heart-to-heart talk with my Maker, and then I pretty much cried myself to sleep.

This morning, as I do every day before leaving for work, I knelt beside my bed and prayed. I ended the prayer like this: “Lord, I’m going to cast my burdens on you today and only think about your goodness. Because no matter what is going on in my life, you are always good.”
Around 10:45, I left work for a dentist appointment. Just as I got on the toll road, my phone rang. Within a few moments of me saying hello, the heavens opened and God’s goodness rained down.
The caller (whom I hadn’t conversed with in over a decade) began speaking the exact words I needed to hear at this point in my journey. It was truly amazing—the call, the caller, the entire conversation—and I came away with renewed strength, and optimism, and a clear sense of purpose in my life.
I shared that to say this: If you’re stuck in a dark place and can’t go one step further without some heavenly assistance, talk to the One who made you, and let him know how you feel. I can’t promise that you’ll get a call tomorrow from an unlikely caller, speaking God-ordained sentences in your ear. But I can promise you, God’s timing is perfect, and he rewards those who place their trust in him.
