It's A Beautiful Thing

To believe that the human body came about by any means other than God’s design is simply preposterous. On any given day, our bodies are walking marvels.

We have 206 bones and 60,000 miles of blood vessels. Our eyes are so sensitive that if the earth was flat, we could see a candle flickering at night 30 miles away. To put that in perspective, if you live in Dallas, you could see the flicker in Ft. Worth.

We can distinguish up to 10 million colors. Our noses can remember 50,000 scents. Every time we take one step, we use 200 muscles. A piece of brain tissue the size of a grain of sand (a grain of sand!) contains 100,000 neurons and 1 billion synapses all communicating with each other at high rates of speed.

To believe we just “happened” is like saying the tiny parts of your smart phone mysteriously, totally by chance, came together one day and started working—bing, bang, boom. Preposterous, indeed.

The Psalmist David said it best: “You created my inmost being; you ‘knit me together’ in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and ‘wonderfully’ made.”

We didn’t just happen, you and I. We are living souls inside miraculous bodies, designed and created by Almighty God. He made us, he knows us and he loves us. It's a beautiful thing. ♦
