From beginning to end, it was a perfect and inspirational home-going service for my beloved big sister, Elaine. Each speaker spoke eloquently and knowledgeably of Elaine’s many gifts and her true call to music and worship. Thank you, Pastor Smith and Pastor Hutchins. You were both outstanding. Thank you, Aimee, for your special role, delivering the words of others—you were superb. Misty, your song was amazing. So touching and perfect. And what a moving tribute from Elaine’s only child, Shelaine, honoring her mother so beautifully with words and singing. Shelaine's voice is truly spectacular. I have no doubt that angels paused in reverence and took notes. And I know God alone gave Shelaine the strength to do what she did today, and I’m grateful he did.
To those of you who attended, thank you for coming. To those who sent flowers, thank you so much. Each arrangement, spray or plant was stunning. And to those of you who came to me and personally shared your thoughts and memories about precious Elaine, thank you for sharing them. They were truly inspiring, just as she was inspiring.
I miss my big sister so much already, and I know, as the days unfold, I will understand more clearly the depth of the void that’s been left in my life and in our family. I've learned that grief comes in waves, and often when you least expect it. To my praying friends, thank you for your continued prayers. They really do sustain me, and I will need them for a long time to come.
