12 Years and Counting

Today is my work anniversary, celebrating 12 years. Most of you know the story, because I have shared it a few times on Facebook. To those who don’t know, here’s the short version:
Twelve years ago today, I started what was supposed to be a two-week temporary assignment at a company six miles from my front door. It had been a challenging year of disappointments and unemployment, and with my disposable funds running low, a temp job would beat no job at all. Twelve years later, the “assignment” continues, and only God could have written the script. To the VP who made me laugh and believed in me from the start, thank you. Your decisions changed my life in countless ways, and I am forever grateful. To the director who pushed me beyond my comfort zone a few years later, thank you. I love you and miss you a lot.
Of course, there is no job guarantee in the corporate world. In my 12 years, I’ve seen many employees, managers, VPs and CEOs come and go. But I’m not worried, my friend. As I’ve said in times past, whatever the future holds, I’ll be OK. My company provides a paycheck; my God provides my needs. Happy Wednesday, y'all. Here's to not giving up when times are hard!
