I don’t think y’all have seen my “Daddy Wall.” It’s difficult to photograph, but here it is. It really created itself after I chose some special items of Daddy’s that I wanted. I never thought I’d have deer antlers in my house, but Daddy loved his deer antlers, so deer antlers are topping the display.
Below that is a picture of Daddy. I think he told me he was 17 when this picture was taken. I love it so much.
Below that is an old level that Daddy had when I was a little girl. Just the sight of it brings back precious memories of Daddy working around the house with his hands.
The chair in the picture goes way back. I’m not sure what happened to the desk it went to, but I have so many memories of Daddy sitting in this chair at the desk, paying bills, or doing whatever he did.
The chair creaks when you shift your weight in it, and if I close my eyes, I can see my handsome Daddy in his long-sleeved white shirt, leaning from side-to-side, opening the desk drawers, while the chair creaks melodically along.
Standing in the chair is Daddy’s Rickenbacker Electro Lap Steel Guitar. He got it when he was a teenager, and it’s in almost perfect condition. I loved hearing him play it. I didn’t plan for it to stay upright in the chair when I was designing the wall—I intended to hang it somewhere—but the longer it stayed, the more I liked it, and thus, it‘s still there!
I went to Daddy’s grave today. I’ve missed his presence so much lately. However, I wouldn’t bring him back to this evil world for any amount of money. He’s in paradise, and I’ve got leaving on my mind. Whenever God is ready to take me, I’m ready to go.
A happy Thursday evening to you all. I hope it’s been a good day filled with good things.
