Our Maker Loves Us

While on my way to work this morning, stopped at a traffic light, a string of birds on a high wire caught my attention. Despite the ominous clouds looming and the steady drizzle of rain, there they sat. One bird was shaking the water off his back, and I wondered why they didn’t go find a drier place to perch.
It might sound silly to you, but for a moment, I wished I was one of them, high above it all, living minute-to-minute, just doing what I was programmed to do. No stresses. No wishes. No woe.
As I drove past them, the Lord gently reminded me that he cares for those birds on the wire, but he cares much more about me. Matthew 10:29-31 says it like this: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
If our finite minds could ever grasp, I mean really grasp, how much our Maker loves us, and how much he longs to be near us and help us in our journey on earth, I’m convinced we would spend much more time behind closed doors, away from the distractions of life, opening our hearts to him in prayer.
