How Far I've Come

The last few weekends have found me in my upstairs office, surrounded by plastic containers filled with “priceless treasures,” doing my best to determine what my granddaughter might actually consider “priceless” one day. Like it or not, nobody will want to deal with my stuff after I’m gone. The treasures are many, and the struggle is real.

I ran across this photo from 2003. It was my first job in Houston after my divorce. I was driving a million miles one way, barely making enough money to put food on the table for me and my beloved Leslie. I look tired, and I probably was.

But, oh, my friend! If you only knew how far I’ve come and how much favor I’ve found since this picture was taken, you’d find it hard to believe. It’s a story only God could’ve written, and not only am I grateful beyond words, I am living proof that if you’ll do what YOU can, even if it means taking a job across town making diddly-squat, God will crown your efforts with success, put the right people in your path and do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think.

A good Sunday evening to you all, and I hope the week ahead is a blessed one.
